Class IV Laser Therapy

The Body Mechanic now utilizes a LightForce EXP Class IV Deep-Tissue Therapy Laser as a powerful new tool to address pain and injury.

Deep-tissue laser therapy can be an effective, non-invasive technique to address dysfunctional or damaged tissue. Pain and inflammation are reduced and recovery times for both chronic and acute conditions are accelerated.

The main benefit of this therapy is that it can often eliminate the need for pharmaceutical treatment (drugs) and even surgery. Many issues that are frequently treated on an operating table and with heavy medications, can now be treated from above the surface of the skin.

Approved by the FDA in 2003 as a safe and acceptable method to treat chronic dysfunction and acute injuries, deep tissue laser therapy has become a standard treatment for a variety of musculoskeletal injuries.

Widely used in the world of professional athletics, this form of advanced therapy delivers consistent results when used regularly in a therapy regimen. With more NBA, NFL, MLB, FIFA players as well as Olympians choosing this method, fast and effective results are being noted among some of the most active and athletic people in the world.

Benefits of laser therapy

Reduced recovery time

Class IV deep-tissue laser therapy excels with difficult-to-treat conditions. Even in situations where manual therapy has failed and/or surgery is considered the only alternative, it can speed up recovery times and reduce or eliminate pain.

An alternative to surgery

Laser therapy is not only fast and pain-free, it’s also very affordable unlike surgery. Additionally, traditional surgery to treat pain requires a post-operative recovery time, whereas laser therapy allows you to maintain your active lifestyle between treatments.

Non-invasive

The laser passes through the skin and stimulates the layers of tissue below. The high-grade therapy laser that we use at The Body Mechanic has the ability to penetrate organic structures up to 3 inches deep.

Safety and efficacy

Deep-tissue laser therapy may be used in combination with most prescription drugs with no known contraindications, and in many cases, it can render surgery unnecessary. In more severe cases, it may be used as an effective pre-surgery treatment, and in cases where surgery is required, it may be used post-surgery for pain relief and accelerated healing.

Anti-inflammatory properties

In cases of chronic pain, it may be used as an anti-inflammatory treatment and therefore reduce pain and discomfort.

What can you expect in a laser therapy session?

1. Each laser application will take on average of between 5 and 15 minutes, (depending on your condition). Because it is non-invasive, there should be no pain or discomfort during the treatment process. The laser is applied directly on the skin over the area of pain / dysfunction, and you’ll feel a slight soothing warmth in this area.
2. After your Class IV deep-tissue therapy laser session, the period of healing it stimulates will continue for anywhere between 6 hours to 3 days. Stimulated cellular activity continues to alleviate pain and reduce inflammation after the session has finished.

3. It may take several sessions to notice significant results, though the healing begins immediately following the first session. Thomas, The Body Mechanic, will establish a therapy plan specifically for your condition. Most clients report pain-relief immediately after their first session, while others report relief after 3-5 sessions.
