What to expect

  1. Assessment. We start by working out the nature and location of the issue — which is often not where it hurts.
  2. Corrections. Hands-on work using whichever method(s) best fit the problem: Active Release Techniques®, NeuroKinetic Therapy®, craniosacral therapy, Class IV laser, kinesiology taping, P-DTR®, etc.
  3. Home correctives. Exercises/stretches that help safeguard the work between sessions and move you closer to full resolution.

Frequently Asked Questions

    • Regular sessions are $200 each, with the first visits discounted to $125.
    • Sessions are pay-as-you-go. There are no session packages.

Sessions are about 45 minutes long. I generally stop making corrections at around the 45 minute mark, but often there are still exercises / stretches to go over, scheduling to do, etc. This applies to both regular and first-time appointments.

All sessions are “clothes-on” other than when doing class IV laser and kinesology tape as they need to be performed on bare skin. If the relevant areas aren’t accessible when needed, I am a massage therapist, and therefore, I know how to work a sheet to respect modesty.

I recommend wearing workout-type clothes… loose fitting and comfortable. Avoid layers and above all, NO DENIM PLEASE! Inflexible materials, such as this, are hard on a manual therapist’s hands. Shorts and a T-shirt, or similar, are usually best. It’s also a good idea to avoid lotions or any other products that would make the skin slippery. They make ART® more difficult to perform comfortably and effectively.

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment time, or simply fail to show up to your appointment, that session must be paid for in full.

Barring other arrangements being made, your credit card on file will be charged.

I don’t accept insurance directly, though I will happily provide you with an invoice in the style of your choosing for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

My work is generally accepted by health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts, and health insurance carriers who cover massage therapy (performed by a massage therapist). Sometimes a prescription from a physician is required to get massage therapy covered by insurance.

I came to see Thomas after months of multiple daily headaches and striking out on solutions with my medical provider. I was immediately impressed with Thomas's efficiency, knowledge, expertise, and responsiveness, The techniques used, and the information and guidance given led to the resolution of my headaches in a matter of weeks. It's been three months since the headaches disappeared and they have not returned. I am forever grateful for Thomas helping me get my life back.

I’m very grateful to have found Thomas. He is an incredibly skilled professional with many techniques in his arsenal to help you. If you have any body work needs, he’s the guy. He’s helped me with an old and nagging Achilles injury and a more serious back and pelvic floor issue. I really shutter to think how I would be doing if I hadn’t found him. He’s also incredibly kind. He’s the most experienced body worker in the Sonoma County. If you’re even thinking about seeing him, just do it. Don’t suffer!!

My experience of working with Thomas at The Body Mechanic has been life-changing. I have finally found relief from pain that has plagued me for most of my adult life. I have seen a lot of different practitioners, utilizing different modalities over the years. And Thomas is unique in his field. He is incredibly astute in diagnosing esoteric underlying symptoms, as well as existing and evident body aches and pains. I feel very fortunate to be able to be seen by him!

Thomas is a magician! He quickly solved a sports injury that had benched my daughter for 6 weeks. She was back to playing the day after she saw him. Thomas gets to the root of the issue and doesn’t just treat the symptoms. Just book him!

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Over a year ago I fell from my mountain bike and was experiencing head pain even through I did not think I had hit my head. I scheduled appointments with doctors and even went to see a Chiropractor and Craniosacral practitioner regularly for months. Nothing was helping and the pain kept on coming back. A friend recommended Thomas and I'm so grateful he did. After a brief explanation of what I was experiencing, Thomas was able to pin point the pain and worked on the nerves that were causing the issue. He even worked on other issues I was experiencing due to being 6 months pregnant in the same appointment. I hadn't even mentioned the additional pains but he found them and I left feeling so relieved, beyond grateful and pain free! I've booked my husband, mother and mother in law in for appointments now too. Thomas is a magician! I don't know how else to put it! Thank you, Thomas!

The Body Mechanic could also be called The Body Magician. Thomas is able to alleviate sore or dysfunctional areas of the body. Great expertise and professionalism. If I could give him more than five stars, I would.
